Mr West Ham, absolute legend.

Re: Brooking's Best...
Saw him play hundreds of times back then and he was the best player I have seen pull on a West Ham shirt.

He was a player that really did have everything. He could pass perfectly weighted passes, short, long and diagonal, good tackler, great corner and free kick taker, goal scorer with both feet and good header cup final winner a prime example. Great vision and footballing brain, shown this at the FA and managing West Ham. Amazingly skilful without being a show pony, but had many tricks in his locker.

Having said all that the one feature that always stood out above all else when he played was his incredible ability to take the ball to either wing and always get in a perfectly weighted cross with pinpoint accuracy to drop on the head of pop, psycho or other.

One player along with Bonzo I would be very pleased if ever fortunate enough to bump into and thank for all the great memories. You can tell he is a real gentleman and was a consummate professional on and of the field.

Bring back mud. You cant have a decent game of football without mud.

Re: Brooking's Best...
Never quite got that knack of letting the ball run across yourself to beat the opposition - I always lost the ball rather than wrong-footing the defender.

I tried a lot though...

Re: Brooking's Best...
Grew up watching Trevor Brooking and he had this beautiful ability to let the ball run across him which put him ahead of his marker, I never understand why they don't teach kids this skill these days

Great Video Texas

Re: Brooking's Best...
What a player and a Gentleman, seeing Len Cairns handing him a clock is remarkable, hard to think we weren't always the seedy outfit these owners have made us. Anyway watching him and Dev destroy teams together was astonishing, what players and i still miss them. Payet might have got the odd sub appearance when those two were in their pomp!!

Thanks for posting that Texo

Wonderful player to grow up around: Him and Bonzo and Dev before the exciting Cottee and Mac era. We didn't win a lot but boy we enjoyed it.

Re: Brooking's Best...
His best goal wasn't there. Brookings best was his passing and crossing.
